The Lakeland District for Sport, Culture and Recreation helps to facilitate the development of quality sport, culture and recreation programs and services, and we strive to ensure that the residents of our District have access to these programs and services. Some of these include:

We want to know what your needs and requirements are for the development of sport, culture and recreation programs and services in your community. The Lakeland District is more than willing to meet with you to further discuss the various issues and concerns within your community. It is through building and sustaining partnerships that we can develop and build the best sport, culture and recreation delivery system possible!

 Youth Experience Program

The purpose of the Sport, Culture and Recreation Youth Experience Program grant is to enhance and provide opportunities for youth through the provision of community based sport, culture and recreation field trips. The program is designed to support disadvantaged youth with the opportunity to attend major attractions and events such as Science Centres, Museums, sporting events (WHL games, SJHL games, CFL games). Other potential activities could include field trips to locations such as Wanuskewin Heritage Park, Batoche National Historic Site and the Saskatchewan Science Centre. Applications are processed on a first-come first-served basis.  Community Investment Program

Purpose

The purpose of the Lakeland District Sport, Culture and Recreation Community Investment Program is to provide communities and organizations within the Lakeland District the opportunity to develop and host sport, culture and recreation programs or services. The intent of the program is not to fund the entire activity or event, but rather to provide seed money that will assist in the development and implementation of qualifying projects. The Lakeland District is committed to helping facilitate the development and delivery of quality sport, culture and recreation programs and services to the citizens of our District and it is hoped that this Investment Program will assist communities and organizations to meet that end.

Grant Levels/Criteria

  • For activities that are local in scope, a maximum of $500 is allowed
  • For activities/events that are District or provincial in scope a maximum of $1,000 is allowed

The amount allocated to each activity/event is based on merit assessed against the following criteria: Impact of the activity/event, number of participants, community support, increased access to programs, supports community capacity building, new activities/events, creates or utilizes partnerships, is a community priority. 

Other considerations for funding approval include the number of applications received and the amount of funding available for distribution. Applicants may receive funding for not more than one activity/event per year. For further information please call the Lakeland District office at 953-1623.

 Aboriginal Community Sport Grant

What is the Aboriginal Community Sport Grant?

The purpose of the Aboriginal Community Sport Grant Program (ACSGP) is to provide greater sport participation and

development opportunities for Aboriginal youth in Saskatchewan. The program will assist and support the

implementation of organized community sport programs to increase sport opportunities for youth in the Aboriginal

community, specifically in urban, rural, on-reserve, isolated and northern communities.

There are two application deadlines:

  • November 30 - for programs running in the Spring and Summer
  • May 30 - for programs running in the Fall and Winter
